This policy explains how CroatiaPortal.com uses cookies and similar technologies. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored by a browser. Similar technologies can store a preference, support website operation or help measure how a service is used.
2. Necessary, preference and consent cookies
The site uses necessary technologies for security, form protection, WordPress administration, language selection, caching and reliable page delivery. These functions do not require consent, although blocking them in the browser may prevent parts of the site from working correctly.
Complianz and the WP Consent API record the choice made in the consent banner. In the current configuration:
cmplz_*cookies, including the selected categories, banner status and policy version, are normally stored for up to 365 days.wp_consent_*cookies communicate the selected consent categories between compatible WordPress plugins and are normally stored for up to 30 days.
These cookies store the consent choice itself; they are not used by CroatiaPortal for advertising profiles.
3. Google Analytics 4
With your consent, CroatiaPortal uses Google Analytics 4, connected through the Google Site Kit plugin, to understand how the site is used and improve its content. Analytics may measure user and session counts, pages viewed, interactions and enhanced-measurement events, approximate location, referral information, and browser and device characteristics.
Google Analytics normally uses first-party cookies including:
_ga— distinguishes users; default lifetime up to 2 years._ga_<container-id>— maintains session state; default lifetime up to 2 years.
Browser restrictions or future configuration changes may shorten these periods. CroatiaPortal does not intentionally send names, email addresses or contact-form content to Google Analytics, and signed-in WordPress users are excluded from Analytics tracking.
4. Consent and Google Consent Mode
For visitors in Croatia, the European Economic Area, Switzerland and the United Kingdom, analytics and advertising storage are set to denied by default. The banner allows you to accept, deny or configure optional categories. If statistics consent is denied, Google Analytics cookies are not read or written and the visit is not included in CroatiaPortal’s Analytics reporting. The Google tag may still receive the limited consent status needed to respect that choice.
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the Manage consent button shown on the site. Complianz is also configured to respect supported Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals.
5. Google Fonts and other third-party content
The site may request font files from Google Fonts after the relevant consent setting permits them. Such a request can disclose technical information such as the IP address, browser and device information to Google. If pages later include maps, videos or other embedded third-party content, the provider may use its own technologies; where consent is required, optional content will be blocked until consent is given.
CroatiaPortal does not currently use Google Ads, AdSense or remarketing cookies. This policy and the consent banner will be updated before such services are introduced.
6. Contact forms
When you submit a contact form, technical anti-spam and security checks may be used to protect the site. The information you enter is handled as described in our Privacy Policy.
7. Browser controls
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. Browser controls operate separately from the choice stored in the site’s consent banner.
