Novi Vinodolski has two modern marinas, not one: Marina Novi beside the town port and Mitan Marina in Muroskva bay at the eastern entrance to town. They both provide protected berths, technical services and places to eat, but their settings and visitor experience are different.
Marina Novi is integrated with the central waterfront and the working Port of Novi Vinodolski. Mitan Marina occupies its own compact bay farther east, with modern architecture and a long protective breakwater. From the air they are easy to distinguish; at street level, similar names and the wider harbour area can be confusing.

Choose Marina Novi if you want to be close to the centre, the old town and the main urban waterfront. It is the more convenient base for walking into Novi Vinodolski and combines marina services with a restaurant, café and accommodation.
Choose Mitan Marina if you prefer a self-contained nautical setting at the eastern edge of town, need its particular service facilities or want to visit its restaurant and view across the Vinodol Channel. It has its own fuel station and a larger dry-storage operation outside the waterfront site.
For a casual walk, Marina Novi fits more naturally into a town itinerary. Mitan Marina is a separate destination and access to its piers, beach and other client areas depends on current rules.
Marina Novi and the city port
Marina Novi is located at Mel 1B beside — and, in official city descriptions, within — the city port of Novi Vinodolski. The aerial view shows the marina’s floating piers, the town immediately behind and additional port basins around it.
This creates an important naming distinction. The Port of Novi Vinodolski is a local public port with its own operational areas. Marina Novi is the nautical-tourism marina offering berths and guest services. They touch and may look like one large harbour, but the city port is not a third full-service tourist marina.
The central position is Marina Novi’s strongest advantage. From the surrounding public waterfront, visitors can connect a marina view with the market area, old town streets, cafés and the western promenade. For crews arriving by sea, the town does not feel isolated behind a resort compound.
Marina Novi services
Official information lists 204 wet berths for vessels up to 20 metres overall and 10 dry berths within the marina. Each regular berth has water and electricity, while the marina provides Wi-Fi, surveillance and staff support.
The technical programme includes a 40-tonne travel lift, engine and boat service, launching, cleaning, toilets, family and accessible sanitary units, and laundry. Owners should confirm whether the required work can be completed for their vessel and reserve specialist services in advance.
The public-facing side includes Restaurant Admiral, Cafe Bar Gat, apartments and a nautical-equipment shop. The official service page says the café operates year-round, but opening hours should still be checked for the visit. A fuel station is located about 50 metres away rather than inside the central marina basin.
Boat rental and charter services are also advertised. A bareboat rental normally requires accepted qualifications and experience; a crewed or skippered option is the safer choice when the customer does not meet the operator’s requirements.
Parking at Marina Novi
Marina Novi states that it has approximately 120 parking spaces. Berth and apartment clients receive parking according to their service, restaurant guests can obtain free parking under the current published terms, and external visitors are charged according to the price list.
Parking cannot be reserved in advance according to the marina’s official page. Conditions can change during events and the high season, so follow the entrance signs and reception instructions rather than relying on an old tariff.
If you only want a short town walk, compare the marina parking rules with municipal parking elsewhere in the centre. Do not leave a car in a space assigned to boat owners, service access or trailers.
Mitan Marina in Muroskva bay
Mitan Marina sits in a compact bay at the eastern entrance to Novi Vinodolski. It is visually separated from the centre by the coastal road and rocky shoreline. The long breakwater gives the basin strong protection and the modern buildings make the marina feel like a designed nautical complex rather than an extension of the town harbour.
Official sources list 180 wet berths for vessels up to 15 metres, with larger yachts accommodated on the outer breakwater by arrangement. They also describe 120 dry berths and a wider storage and service operation in an industrial zone about three kilometres away.
The exact fit of a berth depends on length, beam, draught and availability. Contact the marina before arrival and share the vessel’s real dimensions. A photograph of open water is not evidence that a suitable transit berth is free.
Mitan Marina services
Mitan Marina promotes maintenance, repair, dry storage, a crane or travel-lift service, toilets, laundry, parking, a nautical shop and round-the-clock security. Its own fuel station is a practical difference from Marina Novi, where the nearby road fuel facility is outside the marina basin.
The complex also advertises a restaurant, café, rooms, boat rental, private tours, a children’s area and a private beach. These amenities do not automatically have the same access rules. A restaurant booking may welcome outside guests while the beach, parking, sanitary rooms or piers remain intended for marina clients.
The marina’s official website currently marks the café as temporarily closed, which shows why individual services must be checked rather than copied from a static list. The restaurant or another facility may follow different hours.
Can non-sailors visit the marinas?
Both marinas have public-facing businesses and attractive views. In our experience, it is possible to approach, have coffee or a meal and see the boats without owning one. However, a marina is a working facility, not an open-air museum.
Use signed public routes and respect gates, reception instructions and private-area notices. Do not walk along a secured pontoon simply to take photographs. Lines, shore-power cables, moving service vehicles and manoeuvring boats create hazards that are not obvious in a scenic aerial image.
Families should keep children close to the water and away from lifting or maintenance areas. Drones should never be flown over boats, guests or marina infrastructure without the required permissions and a safe, legal flight plan.
Restaurants and a waterfront stop
Marina Novi is the easier choice to add to a walk through the town centre. Restaurant Admiral and Cafe Bar Gat face the marina, and the surrounding harbour gives the meal an urban maritime backdrop.
Mitan Marina offers a more enclosed view of yachts, breakwater and open channel. Its restaurant is presented as a destination in its own right. Because the venue and café can change schedules, reserve or call before making a special trip.
Prices, menus and opening hours are commercial details and can change quickly. Croatia Portal will link to the official businesses rather than reproduce a menu that may soon be outdated.
Renting a boat
Novi Vinodolski is a useful starting point for exploring the Kvarner islands and nearby coves. Marina Novi lists boat rental and charter activity; Mitan Marina lists rent-a-boat and private tours, including skippered options.
Before paying, clarify:
- whether a skipper is included;
- which licence and documents are required;
- fuel policy and deposit;
- weather-cancellation rules;
- permitted navigation area;
- check-in and return times;
- safety equipment and passenger limits.
An hourly coastal ride, a half-day with a skipper and a bareboat daily rental are different products. Do not choose solely from a photograph or the advertised engine power.
Fuel and practical yacht planning
Mitan Marina has a dedicated boat fuel station. Marina Novi’s official information places a fuel station approximately 50 metres away. Sailors should check whether the fuel point serves vessels directly, its operating hours, accepted payments and any queuing procedure.
For an overnight or technical stop, contact the reception before arrival. Provide vessel dimensions, expected time, service request and whether you need electricity, water or accessible sanitary facilities. During strong wind, follow the marina’s approach instructions rather than relying only on a consumer navigation app.
The Vinodol Channel can experience powerful bura winds. A sheltered photograph does not describe conditions outside the breakwater. Check the marine forecast and local notices before departure.

Begin at the central waterfront and look across Marina Novi and the adjacent city port. Continue into the centre or old town, then stop at the marina café or restaurant if it is open.
Visit Mitan Marina separately by using the signed road approach. Confirm the restaurant or service before travelling specifically for it. From an authorised public-facing area, the view across the channel towards Krk is the main attraction.
Do not try to turn every operational pier into a walking route. The most useful comparison comes from understanding how each marina relates to the town, not from entering every berth.
