Vidikovac Pridva is a 573-metre Oči Vinodola viewpoint with a layered panorama over the Vinodol landscape, Lake Tribalj and the direction of Kvarner. The view is rewarding, but the narrow and steep approach is the defining practical issue. Visit only in daylight and only if the driver is comfortable on demanding local roads.
The view from Pridva
Pridva stands lower than Mahavica but high enough to separate the valley into clear layers: lake and settlements below, wooded and rocky slopes around them, and the coast beyond. The official Oči Vinodola network gives its elevation as 573 metres.
We reached it late on 27 August 2026. The evening light softened the panorama, but it also exposed a planning mistake: the return began after dark. The photographs document a beautiful viewpoint and a road that deserves more daylight than we gave it.
A serious road warning
The approach used during our route was extremely narrow in places. When two motorcycles came from the opposite direction, even our small car had little spare room. Some sections run beside rock or a drop, and passing options are limited.
A photographed sign below the viewpoint reads “Opasna uzbrdica!”, meaning dangerous or steep uphill. That warning is distinct from the narrow-road issue, although both affected our drive. Do not attempt the route simply because navigation proposes it. Check current conditions, observe signs and turn back if the road is unsuitable for you or your vehicle.
Arrival and facilities
A small stopping area and viewpoint signage were present during our visit. Formal parking capacity, road width, public transport, winter maintenance and step-free access have not been confirmed. There was no staffed visitor centre or reliable service to depend on.
Who should visit?
- Confident drivers using a small or manageable vehicle.
- Travellers with ample daylight and stable, dry weather.
- Photographers who value a quiet, layered landscape.
- Visitors prepared with water, offline navigation and no expectation of facilities.
Skip Pridva if narrow exposed roads cause anxiety, if the weather is uncertain or if anyone in the vehicle is already tired. There is no penalty for stopping the day at Mahavica or after Drivenik Castle.
Place it at the end—but not late
Our Vinodol route places Pridva after Lake Tribalj, Drivenik and Mahavica because the sequence gradually increases in driving difficulty. “Last” must not mean “after sunset.” Set a firm turnaround time and remove Pridva first if the schedule slips.
Honest verdict
Pridva is scenic, quiet and memorable, but it is not an essential stop for everyone. Its value depends on arriving calmly and safely. For the right driver in good conditions, the panorama justifies the detour; for others, Mahavica offers a stronger stopping point without the need to prove anything.
