The important detail is that natural shade is limited. In July and August, families often settle under the trees early. If shade is essential, arrive in the morning or bring your own parasol instead of assuming that a free place will still be available at noon.

Public toilets have been available in the beach area during the tourist season. Their opening times, as well as the operation of rentals and individual cafés, can change outside the busiest months. If one particular service is essential for your visit, check locally when you arrive.
In summer, an inflatable water park is often installed offshore. It is a major attraction for children and clearly visible in our high-season photographs. Access is normally a paid seasonal activity, and its operation depends on weather and the local operator.
Is Lišanj Beach good for children?
For many families, yes. The beach combines a shore entry with food, shade and seasonal entertainment, so it is easier to manage than an isolated rocky bathing spot. The central location also helps if you need to shorten the day or pick something up in town.
There are still a few practical limitations:
- the pebbles are coarse enough that water shoes are useful;
- natural shade is popular and may be full by late morning;
- the beach becomes crowded in peak season;
- children using the inflatable water park still need appropriate supervision;
- concrete entries and ladders are better suited to confident swimmers.
If your priority is complete quiet, a nearly empty shore or a very gentle sandy entry, Lišanj may not be the best match in midsummer. Its strength is convenience and variety, not seclusion.
Parking near Lišanj Beach
The most straightforward municipal option is Lukavice, a controlled car park on Ulica Lukavice close to the beach area. The official city beach page also mentions Glavica, but Lukavice is the nearby name clearly listed in the current municipal parking register.
As checked on 9 August 2026, the city lists a summer rate for Lukavice of €2 per hour, charged from 7:00 to 22:00 between 1 June and 30 September. The first ten minutes at municipal car parks are listed as free. Prices and rules can change, so check the official Novi Vinodolski parking page before relying on these figures.
In July and August, arriving early is about more than finding a place to lay a towel: it also improves your chance of parking without circling at the busiest time of day.
When should you arrive?
For a relaxed beach day in high season, morning is the best choice. You have a better chance of finding parking, natural shade and a comfortable position on the pebbled section. The middle of the day is hotter and noticeably busier.
Outside July and August, Lišanj feels less intense, although the trade-off is that some cafés, rentals and water activities may operate on shorter schedules or not at all. Late afternoon is another attractive option if you mainly want a swim and a walk rather than a full day on the beach.
Who will enjoy Lišanj — and who may prefer another beach?
Lišanj is a good fit if you:

Lišanj works well as part of a wider Novi Vinodolski day. After swimming, you can follow the waterfront, stop at a café or continue toward the sections that look across to the small island of San Marino. San Marino Islet and its tiny church are one of the town’s most recognisable views, but reaching it by swimming or a rented craft should be planned according to your ability, sea conditions and available seasonal services.
You can also leave the coast and explore the old town, but remember that Novi Vinodolski rises steeply away from the sea. The walk is rewarding, though the return climb can feel demanding in the midday heat.
